It was a good day at sea today; we have had very little rocking compared to the trip up to Halifax. There is not much to say about today because we were in student orientation ALL DAY! I know the students are saturated and I am sure that the faculty and staff feel even more so. I think we are all ready to begin our classes; we will teach for 6 days and then we will arrive in Spain!!
The highlight of the day was our first encounter as a group with Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Nancy saw him in the dinner line yesterday and shook his hand and welcomed him to the ship which was pretty cool. Today he stopped by the orientation and said that being around the students makes him feel like he is "on cloud nine" and he danced around a little bit. The students gave him a standing ovation both coming and going and they were all very excited to see and hear him speak. He said that he was excited about their enthusiasm and that they were "God's greatest helpers." AWESOME!!
On the not so awesome side, our captain said today that we are going to possibly sail between two large storms so... that should be interesting. We won't worry about it yet!
Fun Fact:
-Since we're traveling east, we lose an hour tonight. That makes the second time so far

Mary Block A thousands thanks for sharing your journey. Bishop Tutu ! How special. Praying for safe and peaceful seas.
Jack and Nancy Thrilled to hear things are going so well! We are still looking for information regarding senior staff employment - thinking ahead to retirement - we ARE serious! Great to hear your daily comments - stay safe and stay well!
Bree Desmond Tutu is my hero! So exciting! I hope you do end up meeting the fabulous Megan Theberge, my former student, who is on the ship (not boat!), too! xoxo
Paige Asher and Anna love looking at the pictures. Asher found his drawings on your wall in the cabin and he is so excited that his art work is going "around the whole world". Love you!
