Neil's Round the World Trip!
I woke up early and had another freezing shower :( I checked out and put my stuff in the baggage room. I walked to the bus station and bought my bus ticket to Melbourne, then had a Subway. I walked through Glebe Park and had to evade some drunks who were having a fight. I walked through the suburbs and found the Australian War Museum. It was quite interesting-especially the Gallipoli section. However I got bored after the WW1 section and just headed to the hall of remembrance. I met Rob and a Welsh friend of his. We headed down the Anzac Parade and walked round the huge lake and got pictures of Captain Cook's Jet which propells water 60ft into the air. We walked over Commonwealth Bridge and visited the High Court of Australia. We had a quick tour of the courts which are a bit weird it feels like you're in a Modern Art Museum.
I wanted to roll down the grass roof of the parliament on Capitol Hill but as I climbed up a blue security guard appeared with a big gun and told me to go back-I didn't argue.
We walked back to the centre and sat out in a beer garden with all the Canberra "suits". We then had a curry in a nice Indian restaurant. I had to then rush back to the hostel grab my stuff and get on my bus to Melbourne.
The bus journey was 10 hours and was so uncomfortable. We stopped at a deserted railway station for food at 1.30am. I woke up around 5ish and saw the sun creeping up over the bush-it was spectacular.
I arrived in Melbourne and was so tired I just checked into the hostel across the road which once inside resembles a prison. I think I'll just stay here one night and tomorrow find a hostel in the beach area of St Kilda.
