Wednesday was stressful packing day. I have soooo much stuff its unreal. I have enough clothes to reach round the world I am sure!! So to break up the morning...well I actually hadn't done anything at this point, I went for breakfast with Amy, who I used to work at the orange peel cafe with. She is an art student and makes loads of different things. They are currently making some jewellery to sell. They are Swarovski crystals individually laid on a black clay base and then hardened in the oven and as a goodbye pressie she gave me some of the most beautiful earrings that she had made and then signed the back. She is such a lovely girl and the time it would have taken her to make theses is amazing. They are stunning.
So then Wednesday night was my leaving do, my farewell to Sydney. Imet the guys from work, josh and Jackie, the guys from orange peel cafe, Janine and Donna at the Angel Bar which is just off martin place in the centre if the city. We had a few drinks in there and then headed to another bar for another and then by this time most people had gone home. So me, Greg and Ben went to scruffy Murphy's which is a famous pub in Sydney but its reputation is not a good one!! It's a famous backpacker bar, known as last chance saloon! Bit of a cattle market but it's always open and drinks are cheap (hence the popularity with us poor travelling folk). Had a dance in there and bumped into one of the girls I lived with in Glebe. It was nice to see her but I am glad I don't live with them anymore. So we had a dance, a lot of drinks and then said my goodbyes at 1.30am.
I then missed my taxi as I slept through my alarm!! Not good!! But luckily Donna woke me up as she wondered why I hadn't got up! Ha-ha. She said she had heard my alarm but I hadn't. I guess I must have been slightly drunkenly deaf!! I have never got ready so quick in my entire life. In 10 mins I was up packed and a mess!! But I think I have managed to remember everything. I am sure I will cope, it's not like I am going to the end of the earth....it may feel like that though when I get there, it was -4.5degress last night there and they have already had 56cm of snow!!!whoop whoop. I can't wait to get up there.
The flight down to Melbourne was very mundane but it was quite nice that I had 3 seats to myself so I could sprawl out. I then got the coach to the city and I ma now staying in a hovel of a hostel. It stinks; the clean sheets are clean but stained! Nice!! the bathrooms are old, smelly and needs a good bit of elbow grease. Thank god it's only for one night as tomorrow I am off to Mount Buller. The bus leaves at 8.30am from the main station which is only a stone's throw away-the reason why I chose this pit of a place. Then its 4 hours on the bus and then snow here I come! I start work on Saturday.
The job is food and beverage attendant which means I have to do waitressing, bar and barista so at least I won't get bored! I have staff accommodation in the hotel and I have all 3 meals a day provided for me which is nice but I am going to have watch what I eat otherwise it's going to be back to bloater Jenni again and I don't want that to happen since I have lost it all now (well not all, but it's all toned and tighter now!!) by going to the gym and sweating my arse in the morning before going to work. The accommodation is shared with a maximum of 4 people to a room. All I hope is that I don't have to share with smelly dirty boys and it's got to be better than the dive that I am in now!!
The hotel I am going to be working at is the Arlberg Hotel. www.arlberg.com.au at Mount Buller www.mtbuller.com.au and you can check out the snow cams on the Buller website. You may even catch a glimpse of me on the slopes, more than likely on my arse as I learn to board!
I am very excited about going, as mum knows. I think I have called every day since I found I was going telling them everything!! I cried with happiness when I found out. It's time for Jenni's next big adventure....so watch this space for all the latest gossip and mountain shenanigans!!!
Lots of love to you all and thanks for still reading.
