Arrived in Kuala Lumpur after a 4 hour journey on a public bus yesterday...they are what we would call a coach - even more comfortable than any of the private mini buses. We had a wander this afternoon around the town and arrived at the very peaceful lake gardens... Some very beautiful fountains, ponds and plants gathered in the middle of the hectic city life.
Yesterday evening we took the underground to see the Petronas Twin Towers - Absolutely stunning in the evening light. We then walked around to the very classy Traders Hotel and took the lift to the 33rd floor to have a drink in The Sky Bar. Thankfully it was ladies night and so it was free sangria for us and the boys had to pay over a fiver for a bottle of beer! It was certainly worth it... The bar had a swimming pool in the centre and the seating coves were around the outside overlooking the magnificent sparkling lights of the city and the towers...the view and the bar was amazing! James is now thinking about packing in the peasant travelling and booking himself into the Traders Hotel.
We visited the Batu cave today. We walked up about 272 steps to see the cave. On the way up we were very entertained by the monkeys. The cave itself is huge and has lost it's authenticity due to the built in steps and walkways - nothing to rave about.
After, we went to the KLCC shopping centre and had lunch in the extravagant food court. The shopping centre is rather up Market - very nice. We then took a taxi to the KL Tower, the views from here are brill! We were supplied with a headset and a media player, explaining some of the iconic buildings and surroundings. The tower has 12 views and the media player took us on a tour from windows 1 to 12.
We took a taxi to the huge electrical complex. James fancied a netbook but he was bitterly disappointed because it wasn't any cheaper than England, so to make up for it we treated ourselves to a delicious donut!
James went to Chinatown to try and get some Jekyll and Hyde sunglasses to replace the ones he lost in the sea- no such look.
In the evening we wined and dined at Central Market... The Rainforest Restaurant.. Ladies night again so we had free drinks! And it was the first night in three that Rich felt up to coming out.. Unfortunately it has been a case of the smash hits for him... Poor sod!
Later we stumbled across a reggae bar, and had a few drinks to bid farewell to the amazing streets of Kuala Lumpur.
