Woken at 430am with another wet bed. It's now getting beyond a joke, especially when I watched each child pee just before bed! Nick decided he was wide-awake and headed to the laundry while I nodded back off to sleep. By 630am it was time for coffee and then I began to pack up the van while nick did the breakfast marathon. We stopped for another coffee around 9am and nick spotted a pod of dolphins playing in the shallows just across the road. We went over to watch and there were 5 all up, one of which was a baby who began to leap out of the water - an auspicious sign. By 930am we were on the road and first stop was Woolworths for milk and bread. Then it was the highway out to Norseman. We stopped for lunch around 1pm, about 50kms east of Norseman. Unfortunately it was raining so everyone had to sit in the van. Nick fired up the generator and we all had sandwiches, Grandma's Christmas cake and a cappuccino. Matty went off for a bush pee and stood in an ant's nest - luckily they were only little ants but it still gave him a scare. Back on the road by 2pm and drove through to Balladonia where we stopped for fuel - 206.6c per litre!! It continued to rain all afternoon and Nick and I entertained ourselves by guessing which caravaners would wave at us. Some guys did some crazy waving so I guess they were as bored as us! Just after 5pm we pulled in to a large rest area where you could get right off the road. Three other caravans had pulled up too for the night. Unfortunately it was still raining and while they all parked on the bitumen we headed off road to be away from the road noise - hopefully we won't get bogged overnight, although the way our luck is going anything could happen! We cooked a chicken and veg curry for dinner followed by jelly and then put the generator on to wash up and have showers. At this point we discovered there must be something wrong with the pump as only a trickle of water comes out despite full tanks. Then I climbed into bed and found there was a leak in the roof above me. Nick went out to investigate, got soaked to the skin and thought the only thing it could be was the wind pushing the rain in under the roof of the bed. He got in the car and turned the van around with us still all in bed, which the boys and Anna found quite exciting and Katharine and I didn't! In the end, Katharine came and slept with me, not enjoying her free camping experience, and a Nick took the bottom bunk - quite a wise move as the drip continued. Bloody Jayco......
