We decided to head back to Koh Tao as we really loved it and could not really be bothered to see Koh Samui which we thought we might. Queing up for the boat was funny seeing how many people had motorbike scrapes and burns on them and bandages feet from treading on glass. Never seen so many bandaged people in one place! The boat was terrible as the sea was rough again and we had booked the cheapest boat possible, with not enough seats and proberbly not enough life jackets for the amount of people on board. We found chairs which were on the lower deck and they were sweaty and hard plastic, the boat was rocking so bad that we really thought it might tip over, so Ash decided it would be safer on the top deck if it did. Ash did the manly thing and told Becky what to do if the boat did tip, he created us a little evacuation plan! I think everyone else had the same idea as the deck was full of worried looking faces and men reassuring their girlfriends the boat was fine!
We got there in one peice in the end and treated ourselves to toad in the hole at this English pub. We had already booked a room so there was no rush to find somewhere to stay but we regretted having dinner as there was a torrential rain storm as soon as we were about to leave the pub. We ignored this taxi woman trying to charge us a ridiculous fee for a walkable distance so instead spent a quid on a rain poncho which was quite funny. We were so pleased with our room as we had paid a bit extra to get a TV which meant the room also came with air con and a hot shower. The shower never bothered us before but after being drenched like that a hot shower was bliss!
We met up with Kirsty and Dan on Koh Tao and they sneaked into our pool for a day of sunbathing and swimming which was lovely! We all went for tea in this BBQ place which was soo tasty, the lovely thing about Koh Tao is there is strip of bars and restaurants which are all on the beach and all lit up with millions of fairy lights it is so pretty. Then we had to say bye as they were heading to Phi Phi that night. We promised to treat them to an oatcake in Stoke when they get home as they were both utterly baffled when we tried to describe them, like a pancake but savoury, better than bread with bacon, but you can put nutella or jam on them, they were like what the hell?! We have never realised how hard it is to describe oatcakes to people before this trip!
The next day we headed down for another day at the pool and ran into Kirsty and Dan, turns out they fell asleep on the over night boat and woke up at 6am back in Koh Tao, the boat had broke down and had to be towed back to the island! They got there money back though! So we had another day with them fooling around in the pool.
After a couple days doing nowt we thought we best get out and do something! So we went on a snorkeling boat tour that circum navigates the whole island. It was really fun and relaxing, we saw quite a few fish although no turtles :( we ended the boat trip on the island of Koh Nang Yuan which has two sandbars running from island to island and is very beautiful! It was red hot and we sun bathed and swam all afternoon.
It was a real luxury staying somewhere with a pool and we thoroughly made the most of it! But we also made the most of the 3 for 1 drink promos in the hotel bar and had a few bad hangovers whilst there. The last night we over indulged and ended up swimming in the sea with clothes on in the early hours the next morning we had to spend 12 hours travelling via boat and bus to Bangkok for our flight to Hong Kong, so you can guess how cheery and happy we were on that journey!
