Well here it is! The last stop :( how horrible! But also sort of a relief becuase we were both craving home. Mainly dairy milk and oatcakes though! We booked a hotel on the Khao San Road that has a rooftop pool as a treat! We wanted to stay somewhere nice for the last few days. We had a few full days here, although we didnt go to the palace like we wanted to. We got pretty drunk most nights and also Becky had a fever, sore throat and headaches, backpacker flu!
We did do lots of shopping, we had had fantasies all along about all the treasures we could take home, it finally would not matter how heavy our backpacks were! Becky bought some thai maxi dresses which were actually more knee length! We bought lots of beads and jewellery and Ash of course bought lots of t-shirts!
We did lots of sunbathing on the roof top which we weren't prepared for! The heat was crazy and we both looked like lobsters! Had a brilliant view though! On the last night we had the best time. Definately went out with a bang! We were sitting in a bar when an aussie girl asked us if we wanted to go halves on a shisha pipe. We agreed and they came to sit with us, always lovely to make new travel buddies! Well things just got silly from there really, we got on really well and had lots of drinks. Becky got so drunk she fell off her stool and broke it. Everyone thought she had broke it with her fat bum haha! One of the legs had actually slipped off the edge of the kerb! Embarrassing! We then got talking to a group of Canadians and started a drinking game with them. Ash had the same top on as one of them! It was really funny and mad and we took lots of photos, as you can see :) it was getting pretty late and Becky was rubbish at the drinking game so she kept losing which meant more drinking.... the others wanted to move on to a club but Becky went back to the room for a wee(toilets are not always in bars!) she told one of the girls to tell him where she had gone. I dont think she did though and Ash came looking and when he turned up at the room he was pretty worried and Bec got told off! Both of us then ended up puking as we drank far too much and then collapsed! All in all we stole 9 thai drinks buckets to bring home!! I think we now know never to play drinking games with Australians who live in Vang Vieng! We can not handle that!
The next day we wandered in the heat very hungover and had a thai version of an english breakfast. It was pretty weird waiting for the taxi to arrive to take us to the airport. I think we were in shock that the whole thing was over. But pleased that we had done so well! No lost passports, no major injuries, no tropical illnesses and most of all no major arguments!
In the airport we abused the free wifi by looking at pictures of lovely english food we could eat, we had missed home and missed people too! We had our cases wrapped in celophane as we had admired others who had done it :)
The flight home was horrible as there was a really obnoxious fat Australian man next to becky who insisted on hanging his body over half of her seat. There was bad turbulance over Germany that Becky was not too fond of either! But Ash was in his element watching his films. When we landed we did not get our bags searched which was a surprise as we looked dodgy as hell! Dirty and scruffy haha! Becky's mum and dad picked us up at Heathrow with a cool box full of oatcakes and dairy milk. What a strange feeling of coming home! Very mixed emotions! When we left Rex was a puppy and when we got home he was the size of a small horse! Also Lennon had been ill with meningitis and he had grown so much too! Very emotional reunions with family and friends! Overall we were pretty proud of ourselves, what a great achievement! Trip of a lifetime! But we also knew our travelling days were not over!
