We are wifi starved in cordes today, but we are also starved of the constant sound of scooters, cars, tractors, people....... We have awoken to just the sound of birds, roosters and church bells, so I forgive cordes.
We spent 7 hours on the car yesterday mostly at 130km/h on the motorways, so not much to report. Other than the 130kmh speed limit works!, it's reduced to 110 if it's raining, but the well trained French actually know how to drive. The trucks stay in the outside lane, and cars only use the inside lanes for overtaking. It's brilliant, the inside lanes seem to be reserved for big audis that seem to fly by at 150kmh. It's so refreshing to not have a pensioner in an austin 1800 hogging the inside lane doing 90 like you get in Australia.
We are staying just below the hilltop town of cordes, in one of the valley lookout posts built in 1637, then converted to a pidgeoneer in the 1800's , then a bed and breakfast in the 1980's.
The town (built in the 12th century) sits perched above us. We are looking forward to a leisurely stroll around it today.....
