I planned to stay in Avignon because it's where the train stopped, that's all.
I was so wrong, it is the most gorgeous walled city, with the town surrounded by ramparts , and looked over by an amazing papal palace which was the seat of the Christian world in the 14th century.
The other point to note is that shops don't open on a Sunday here, not even supermarkets, so everybody just wines and dines all day in all the street eateries. I love that idea!
It's also amusing that the French 'youf' still wear the same youf uniform of undies a foot higher than their jeans, and still drive around with their doofdoof music up too loud , only they drive around in tiny peugots accompanied by the tippity-tap of a diesel engine, not the throb of a v8!
Kids are having a ball, the problem is getting Isaac to sleep at night.
I wonder how you ask for a tranquilizer dart in French?
