Awoke after a rather sleepless night due to non-working air conditioning. Windows were open so insects attacked but most ended up smudged on bedroom ceiling thanks to me losing my temper and swinging my shirt around.
Checked out and started our long plod home this time via Le Mans which is the halfway point to Le Havre. Super pain au raisin from roadside boulangerie (man, I am going to miss these) and collected baguettes for lunch.
Weather super, so top off (car not us) and onwards we sped stopping to eat our baguette halfway. Motorway was smooth and fast and we got to Le Mans in no time however stupid tom-tom didn't update quick enough on our exit and we ended up back on the motorway again with no return point for 17km Aggggghhhh! Still, it allowed us to look at the pretty town of Ballon and we drove back on a country route. Checked into hotel which was more of a B & B and we headed into Le Mans. It's pleasant enough, with a raised medieval part eBay the cathedral in the centre. The Cathedral was a tangle of flying buttresses. Essential judging by the height of the apse. The inside was a 50/50 mix of Romanesque and Gothic styles. A very handsome cathedral with it's mix of columns and original stained glass.
Dinner at a Chinese restaurant. Waiter enthusiastic and attentive but we somehow ended up with about 4 plates of beansprouts with various meats on them. Tasty though. Resisted a bowl of plain white rice even though I miss it.
Home and to sleep. People in neighbouring rooms. Walls so thin I can hear the pages of their books turning. I hope noone attempts anything amourous.
