We woke up in the morning and headed for breakfast. After a quick breakfast we sorted out our stuff ready to check out. Our boat was not till 4pm so we decided to head to the beach while we waited.
We walked to 3rd and 4th beach. It was much quieter here and not as built up. It was a hot and sunny day and we slowly walked down and took pictures. We ended up on 4th beach and took a seat in the shade. We sat and Shivani read her book while I blogged. I got a beer and we did some people watching too. Shivani went in the water for a bit too, as the tide slowly came in and made a really nice shallow and warm pool. The water was much nicer here than on 2nd beach.
After she came out of the water we got some grilled cheese which was really nice and wetted our appetite for lunch. We decided to head to a place near our hostel for lunch and slowly walked down through the water. The tide had come in now and the 3rd beach was almost completely covered. It was a picturesque scene and we took a few shots.
We got to the restaurant for lunch and I had some fish and Shivani an aubergine salad. My fish wasn't as good as yesterday but the view was much better here. The service had been slow here and we needed to get going to our boat. Shivani went to sort our stuff out while I paid the bill which took really long too.
After I looked for a 'taxi' and ended up touting business for our hostel in the process. We then headed off to the dock to catch our boat. When we got there I paid the fee to get access to the dock, Shivani somehow got in for free, and then we waited in a long line for the boat. We just missed the first boat and had our pick of the seats in the second. We sat near the door at the back and the boat quickly filled up and we got underway.
It was a choppy ride again and I started to feel a bit sick from the off. Shivani slept for the first hour but when she woke was sick. A woman kindly offered her seat outside so Shivani could get some air and focus on the horizon. I stood outside too and felt much better for it. The rest of the ride seemed to take forever but we eventually came in Salvador as the sun was setting. The ride had again taken almost 3 hours rather than the two advertised.
We got off the boat and found a taxi that took us to the hostel we had previously stayed in. They kindly let us put our stuff in the storage and wait for our 11pm bus. We were hungry now so went for an Italian meal close by. We ordered pasta for two and a salad. The food was really good and we slowly ate and enjoyed the live entertainment.
We then paid the bill (which again had things we didn't pay for on it) before heading to the hostel. We then had a short wait before our taxi arrived to take us to the bus terminal. The ride was quick and traffic free so we arrived in plenty of time. I went and sorted out our tickets and we then had a mcflurry while we waited for the bus.
The time soon came and we went out and boarded the bus. We had bought the expensive tickets so thought we would have a flat bed but we only had semi cama seats. We reclined them as far as they would go and when the bus started moving they turned off the lights and we tried to go to sleep. It was pretty cold and they didn't have blankets so we were in for a difficult night. We could however comfort ourselves in the knowledge that we were going to our luxury lodge and would have plenty of time to relax and catch up on sleep there.
