I woke up in the morning as we got on a bumpy road into some town. The sun was up and Shivani was still snoozing. It had been an uncomfortable night and we both hadn't slept much. It was now 5.30am, the clocks had gone back an hour, and we weren't due into Maceio until 7.30am. We drove slowly on, stopping at a couple of places before eventually getting to Maceio at 8am.
Our driver from the resort was happily waiting outside we quickly got off, eager to get to the resort. We had to buy a bus ticket for our onward journey first though and Shivani did that while I went to the toilet. Ticket bought, we headed to the car and set off for the resort. On the way we drove along the coast, the beach and sea looked great. 45 minutes later we were at our resort and the car went through the electric gates.
We were greeted at the car by one of the receptionists and shown inside where a few other staff greeted us. The resort looked lovely and out of the window we could see the beach and the sea. The resort was a contemporary rustic style, quite minimalist and relaxed too. We were then given some delicious champagne and passion fruit cocktails while we signed our arrival forms. We then asked to be shown the different villas before settling on the one we booked.
Our room was lovely and looked out onto the empty beach. Our bathroom was big with skylights that let the light in and a huge shower. We also had a terrace with a infinity plunge pool. It was a far cry from the hostels we had stayed in and we looked forward to our stay.
We freshened up a little before heading for breakfast. We were given a fresh fruit platter to start before being given a choice of juices and the chefs suggested dishes. I went for a cheese and turkey pancake and Shivani a omelette. Both were delicious and we could see the chef and the quality of ingredients was very good. We were also served a bread basket with various condiments, cheese and ham. There was also a couple cakes to eat too. After our hearty and leisurely breakfast we went down and reserved a cabana.
We spent the the afternoon chilling on the cabana, reading, having drinks and using the pool. We went down onto the beach but came back as the sea was too cold and rough. I also took a long nap, catching up on some sleep while Shivani sunbathed.
Later in the afternoon we were shown round the spa before we headed to our room to use our private pool. I opened a bottle of champagne and we drank it and ate our fresh fruit sticks. We then freshened up before heading to the restaurant for dinner. We sat outside as it was a nice night, if a little windy, the moon was full and you could hear the waves lapping against the beach.
I ordered cod recommended by the waiter and Shivani had a risotto. We had a really nice malbec choosen by the sommelier and enjoyed the equally tasty food. We finished the meal with a couple of desserts although by this time the champagne and wine had got to Shivani. We had a look at the bar upstairs before deciding it was probably best to go to bed.
We stumbled back to the room to find it had been decorated with candles and petals and they had given us some strawberries and cream too. We ate a little of them before getting into bed. Shivani immediately passed out and I searched for something to watch on tv before giving up and going to sleep too.
