Honeysuckle Hill Flashlight Maze and Scream Creek Haunted Woods
My sister loves corn mazes. She's been wanting to take me to one for years. Last year we didn't get to go, so we wanted to try to make it to one this year.
My mom suggested that we all go to Honeysuckle Hill Farm in Springfield, TN. She's a youth director and has plans to bring her church kids there in a few weeks. A good excuse to scope it out...
We opted to go in the evening and do the flashlight maze (flashlights not included, bring your own!). Their maze is 5 acres and the theme for this year is "Nashville Loves Johnny Cash. The maze was cut to form a picture of Johnny Cash. They have a neat enclosed tractor to safely take you out to the maze.
Once at the maze, we had the choice of easy or difficult. We chose "difficult" of course! There was a large group that entered at the same time as us. They were a bit annoying, so most of our early maze decisions were based upon getting away from them! Inside the maze they have little signs called "Cornundrums." They had pictures on them and you had to figure out the expression. If you found all of them, you could enter yourself in a drawing. The cornundrums didn't really help you find the right way to go, they just provided some additional entertainment.
We wandered our way through the maze. We started at the bottom of the picture above, and I'm guessing we got down to his hair before trying to head back. We finally figure out where we were when we reached his buttons! It took us about 45 minutes in all.
We stopped to get some cider before heading to Scream Creek Haunted Woods. Being Harry Potter fans, we wanted to try the "pumpkin juice," which turned out to be sweet tea served out of a real mini pumpkin. We opted out once we heard what it was!
The line for Scream Creek took F-O-R-E-V-E-R! We were probably in line for an hour. The good/bad thing about Scream Creek is that they only let groups in with the group they came with. If there was a party of two, we had to wait for those two people to go in, and then wait 5 minutes before the next group got to go. It was nice in that we were spread out enough to not see what was coming, but it took a long time to get in. We went in with a mother and son that were behind us.
It was a pretty good haunted woods, though! They did some interesting things with textures. The lady that was with us kept running up and talking to the monsters/psycho killers. I guess it was her way of coping! It was fun, but we were all pretty tired by the end.
They also have activities during the day including a kiddie corn maze and pumpkin patch. If you would like to visit Honeysuckle Hill, their website is: http://www.honeysucklehillfarm.com
