Pink Oysters
Karen and I did some more training on Tuesday. We planned to bike, but it was raining and cold, so we ran instead. The problem was that I brought the wrong shoes! I have my old trail shoes with me since I thought we were biking. My legs were NOT happy about running in them. So much pain!! We ended up mostly walking, and I ran in the mud to avoid the impact of the pavement. Afterward, Karen and I decided to go shoe shopping for new shoes for the race.
I have been having a lot of trouble with one of my legs. New insoles have helped, but my shoes are trail running shoes, so they aren't meant for running on pavement. We went to the Rugged store in Gallatin which has discount shoes, most of which are Nike brand. We went in completely soaked from our run (and me partially covered in mud). We bought some nice, clean (and pink!) socks to wear for trying on shoes. They have little signs over the sections to mark the "Better" and "Best" Nikes. Included in the "Best" section were purple high tops! Wouldn't that make a statement at the race?!
We didn't find anything, so we went to Shoe Carnival hoping to get a discount for buying two pairs of shoes. We must have tried on almost every pair of running shoes they had. We both ended up picking pink Saucony shoes (Does anyone know how to pronounce that brand name? I'm so glad I'm typing!). I think Karen's going to try to get Isaac to buy pink shoes to match the team! I was surprised at how many pink shoes we found - they must be popular right now.
Today we went to the area next to the new Hendersonville library to do some biking. They are working on putting in a trail (paved like a greenway). The part that is finished is really pretty! We rode 8 miles on the trails and nearby roads. I'm getting a little better at figuring out the gears.
After riding, I got cleaned up and headed to Jackson for a quick visit. Tonight was the Yada Sisterhood's 5th Birthday Celebration. I was on the leadership team when we first imagined this ministry, so I was excited to go back and visit. Kim Hill lead the music, and she is fabulous! Lisa gave a great message on hope, and I was able to visit with my friend Marsha. What a great night! I always feel closer to God when I'm in Jackson. Maybe it's because I went through so much spiritual formation while I was there. If you are ever in Jackson on the third Thursday of the month, make sure you head to Northside UMC for Yada. You will be so blessed!
