We said goodbye to Rome and went on to the Bay of Naples. Felt very tired and a bit under the weather after last nights dinner (too many wines is to blame!). 6am wake up calls are not fun! Although for good reason, we entered the Vatican Museum, and St Peter's Basilica which was just spectacular. After lunch, we entered the famous Colosseum, an advantage of being on a tour is not having to line up for tickets, which was super long. Most of today was spent traveling, but the reward at the end was well worth it! Rome was lovely...we did a walking tour to start our time in the capital and enjoyed walking around the city, viewing the gorgeous buildings. We started the day by taking a cruise to Giudecca Island to see the glassblowing workshop. Then we spent a few hours on the island that hosts St Mark's Square and saw the Rialto Bridge. A pretty place, enjoyed seeing all the canals and gondolas. A late lagoon cruise and lunch was had on the island Burano which is famous for its multicolored houses. After leaving Innsbruck, we travelled into Italy and spent some time for lunch in Verona - we viewed Juliet's balcony, the setting for Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and had a lovely walk around the market and shopping area. We had some time to ourselves this afternoon as the others did an optional activity, it was good to have some time away from the group.
