We made our way from Nice to Lyon. We stopped at the lovely town - Avignon for lunch which was nice and had paella and sangria - a change in cuisine. Arrived at our accommodation which is not directly in town yet a stopover before we reach Paris. Wasn't the most exciting day today as we spent most of it traveling. The food during the tour, especially the included meals have been very average. Apparently someone from our tour asked the waiter what was our evening ...

We all love a sleep in! No wake up call this morning which was wonderful. After doing some laundry (yay!), we walked along the French Riviera, it was very hot which is why there were so many people sunbathing - some with very little or no bathers! Oooh la la...we found the markets and did a bit of shopping. Jas had a nap in the afternoon and Bek went for a wander - did return without getting lost despite Jas being quite worried! We woke up to an overcast day and as soon as we left Florence, it decided to rain, and a lot! The timing was bad as we visited Pisa, but it did not stop us admiring the leaning tower and taking some photos. Thank goodness for our umbrella that we found in Berlin, although you would not of been short of places to purchase one if need be with all the salesman trying to hassle every tourist that walked past. Finally a sleep in, till 7am! After breakfast, we got on the bus but stopped at a view point of Florence, and to also admire a giant replica of Michelangelo's - David! We then did a walking tour with a local guide followed by some free time to enjoy the sights of Florence such as the Old Bridge (Ponte Vecchio). A visit to Pompeii was on the cards today...just amazing how preserved it was and the amount of people that called it home so many years ago. Very lucky to have visited that amazing place, something we will not forget. We spent a bit of time on the bus today to reach Florence, and when we did it was raining! Not to worry we had dinner at the hotel and a relaxed night in. Despite not a lot to report, we still had a good day and are loving the holiday! Still a week...
