We had a much needed sleep in today which was wonderful! Found a lovely cafe for lunch, afterwards got on the City Sightseeing bus again and headed towards The Acropolis of Athens. It was extremely hot but there was a nice breeze that was needed whilst we climbed the steps. The building was erected in the years 437-432 BC. Just amazing, with beautiful views of Athens and beyond. After the 11th century BC, it became home to Athena, patron goddess of the city that took her name. We took some photos, admired the view and made our way down again. By this time it was 5pm which gave us enough time to visit their Archeological Museum. We were told it would take about 4 hours to see everything but we did it in about an hour. We then grabbed a quick bite for dinner and went back to our accommodation, to do more washing and pack. Tomorrow Bek and Jas go their separate ways for a few days: Bek to Stockholm with Glenys and Jas to Lille with Keith. We were very glad to be going somewhere with cooler weather. No doubt once we were in Ireland and Scotland, we would be complaining of the cold!
