With advise from our host, we bought tickets for the City Sightseeing - Hop on/Hop off bus to get around town. It was a good decision as Athens is quite a big city. Also mainly because today was unbelievably hot. We have not felt that sort of heat to that extent, and we had been to some pretty hot places. We even had a rest in the National Garden because we were exhausted from the heat and needed to get in the shade. It was 36-37 degrees with no escape. We managed to visit the Panathenaic Stadium as well as the Zappeio and in the afternoon took the bus to Piraeus and enjoyed a drink and cheesecake overlooking the ocean. The heat was too overwhelming to walk around much more, but saw the main sites from the bus. Will would to brave the heat tomorrow! We finished the night by having a lovely meal and a bottle of red at the nearby Stanley Hotel on their rooftop terrace with a view of the Acropolis. Happy Birthday Bek!
