We had a massive sleep in -probably to make up for all the early mornings we have had in the past few weeks. We then headed out for the day. We must have the knack for being in counties over public holidays. First France for Bastille Day then today, for Belgium's National Day (to commemorate when they became independent from the Netherlands). We walked around Grand Place and got some delicious local treats from the famous Neuhaus - the best chocolates, ever! We saw Manneken Pis dressed up in a military uniform. Then we walked back to The Royal Park and watched part of the parade with everyone else in Brussels! We managed to squeeze our way out, it was chaotic to say the least as the metro station right in the park was closed. Bek had words with a local who was trying to push past everyone, including mothers with prams when we were clearly not moving. She then made out that she was not pushing, rather trying to protect her precious plastic Belgium flag. Anyways. A good day and we avoided the rain as it was overcast the whole day. We headed back to our accommodation then had some dinner, not much open give the public holiday. We had thoroughly enjoyed this place, it's a shame it doesn't have the best reputation.
