Battery Park to Central Park

Weather 81 spotty rain in AM and warm and sunny PM

We took the subway downtown to the Statue of Liberty ferries. We got a later start than we thought and decided the trip on the ferry would interfere with the 911 memorial reservation we had. We decided to maybe do the Liberty ferry on the NJ side tomorrow.

We walked over to the Memorial. On the way we saw a movie being filmed but still don't know what it was. We didn't see anyone famous. The Memorial was beautiful. Highly recommend getting an online reservation or you have to stand in a long line to get tickets. There is a lot of construction still going on around the site. It was still moving to know what happened there. I don't think the kids could really grasp it. Understandable. It was heavy to me.

After our visit Paul really wanted to have John's pizza in the village where we ate 10 years ago. We found it. It was good. Cool hole in the wall place too. Appears quite a few famous people think so too by the pictures in the window.

The kids are getting a good taste of what it means to live in New York. Walk, eat, subway, eat, walk, subway, stay up late, weirdos, etc. I will tell you that Boston is a pretty cool city and much cleaner and safer.

We took the kids to Central Park. I forgot how nice it is. An oasis. The kids played in the park. A couple of boys and their dad were playing soccer on the green and invited Ben to play. Soon a bunch of boys joined in for a pick up game. All kinds of kids were playing from different places and different nationalities. So cool to watch.

We got ready at the hotel and headed out for a night of Off-Broadway. We saw Potted Potter. It was sooo good. A must see. I ordered tickets on Off-broadway.com and got 3rd row left for 1/2 the price of other tickets I was looking at in the back row. Crazy. The kids were so excited to be sitting so close. The show was a parody of all 7 books of Harry Potter. Way too funny. It helps to know the stories but not necessary. The kids LOVED it. Throughout, Matthew kept saying, "This is so funny. I love it." We all really enjoyed and Paul doesn't know Harry like we all do.

We treked from there through Times Square (like Vegas with a poonsy smell) and on to Rockefeller center (all they cared about was the Lego store there). Earlier we took them through FAO Schwartz to the Lego section. We stopped at an Italian restaurant for a late night dinner and now they are sleeping and I can hardly stay awake. This is the city that doesn't sleep. Something we rather enjoy. Paul and I that is.

Tomorrow we say goodbye to NY and take the train back to CT and head for Philly via New Jersey. On the road again. Happy trails.
