What a great day. We woke to beautiful sunshine and blue skies. Great day to head to the Bayou to see some gators. No one seems overly excited to go on an airboat excursion. In their defense, no one really knew what it was. It was on my bucket list. I always thought it would be in the Everglades not in the Bayou of Louisiana in the Batateria Preserve. The weather was sunny and about 65/67. Warm in the sun but cool when speeding on the boat. Perfect day. We had a two hour tour on an airboat that traveled at high speeds on open water and through canals. Where there were alligators, he would go slow. We saw 35 or more alligators up close. Super cool. At one point the guide stopped next to a small gator and started telling us about alligators. An alligator swam up to the boat in search of marshmallows that he gives them. So cool. We learned a lot about alligators.

The whole family loved the boat ride. Chalk another up for mom. :)
We had a late lunch at Bubba Gumps in the French Quarter. Everyone was starving so we didn't want to take much more time finding another restaurant. We had to find seafood since it is Good Friday. The food was delish. The kids tried Cajun shrimp, coconut shrimp, tempura shrimp and a shrimp Po Boy, also known as the Poor Boy which started in New Orleans when the Martin Brothers made the sandwiches on French bread for the striking carmen before the Depression.
We took a walk back down through the French Quarter to Jackson Square to see all of the artists, musicians and the cathedral. It was way more crowded today. The kids enjoyed the art. We stopped for Pralines as well. I looooove pralines. I might feel sick later from it, but worth it. Pralines were brought to Louisiana by the French and were easily made because the wealth of pecan trees and sugar cane. Thank you France.
Back at the hotel, the kids took a dip in the pool. We were all too tired to go out to dinner again so we ordered pizza and sushi in. Now we are piled up watching Modern Family.
