Today I woke up quite late and then went out and just had a general walk around Edinburgh. I also did a bit of souvenir shopping.

But today was really all about the pub crawl tonight. It was absolutely awesome fun. It left at about 7:30 and was meant to be Harry Potter themed but only the hostel staff went to any effort with that. It was run by the hostel for free, but they obviously had a deal with all the different bars for us to get cheap drinks all night which was awesome. I was talking to a Spanish guy called Pedro for the majority of the night. He's quite a nice guy and I had a good time with him. Our first stop was a pub just opposite the hostel which was all that good, so we just stayed there for one drink and then went on to the next one. The next one was a bit better and had a bit more of a younger crowd but we didn't spend that long there either. The next one was an Australian bar called OZ Bar which was pretty cool. They had all the AFL jumpers up behind the bar and a little sign saying "Gold Coast coming soon". They also had maps of each major city in Australia that you could put a pin on to show where you live, so I did that. The music there was really good as well and there were heaps of Australians there. It was fun explaining AFL to Pedro and telling him how there were much better beers in Australia than fosters. But they had a pretty good range of beers, they even had VB and Coopers there.

I would have liked to stay in Oz Bar longer but the pub crawl left to go on to the next pub/ club called 'Frankenstein's'. It was OK in there, they had a DJ and there was a decent atmosphere but there weren't any discounted drinks and they were quite pricey. So we probably stayed there for about an hour and then we went to a bar that also had Karaoke. By this time we had built up quite a crowd from going through all the bars, so there was quite a que to sing a song. There were just screens with the lyrics all over the bar and you went to one corner where there were two microphones to sing. But I think what ended up happening was the guy who was calling people up would just avoid the songs that not people would know. That made a good atmosphere though because everyone was singing along with pretty much every song. I sang a song by Robbie Williams with Pedro which was his choice and then I was going to sing a Coldplay song but it didn't come up in time. The last song of the night was Sex On Fire by The Kings of Leon so that went off. Everyone was singing along quite drunkedly by this stage as it was about 1am.

After the Karaoke bar closed we just went on to a club just down the road where a lot of people left the pub crawl. So it wasn't too crowded in the club which made it a lot of fun. Pedro left about an hour in to being there, but we organised to go to Edinburgh castle together tomorrow. I spent the rest of the night just dancing and having a good time and talking to a few people, including a a guy and girl from Australia that I talked to a bit at the Karaoke bar. I stayed there until closing time which was 3am and then talked to a few drunk locals outside and then walked back to the hostel.

It was quite a fun night, a really enjoyed and I'll do it again before I leave next week. I'm thinking of pulling an all-nighter next Thursday night for the pub crawl again because my flight out of Edinburgh is at 8am anyway so I would need to wake up at about 4:30am anyway.
