From Normandy we decided to keep heading south in the hope of finding warmer dryer weather, so far it had only just been a bit better than the UK.
To get to Argenton-sur-Creuse we passed through Le Mans, where they had held the 24 Hour race the weekend before.
We stopped in Le Mans for lunch, we found a park in a poorer part of town where we could make lunch on a park table/bench.
I say a poorer part of the city as there was a lot of high rise housing and the park lacked maintenance, long grass and weeds growing through the paving.
Here we found an old man sitting with his head bowed, looking at the ground and only looking up now and then, his bicycle leaning up against his bench with belongings in the basket, I so wished I could speak French as he looked like he needed a friend.
Leaving Le Mans we found ourselves riding down a road that makes up part of the race circuit, the longest straight in fact. By now, as expected we were complaining about how hot it was, so we stopped at a McDonalds for a drink and met some English bikers riding to Spain.
On reaching our campground we were glad to get out of our riding gear. Julie and I will only ride in full gear despite how hot it gets.
The following day we had a look around Argenton, a beautifully old French village on the river. Here we walked all over before having lunch and doing some shopping. It was very hot walking around, but it was worth the effort.
The following day we had a day off, did some washing and spoke to our neighbors, they were from the UK. We have a lot of trouble finding French people that speak English, and our French is very limited. We often find ourselves talking to Dutch and English people.
The day we were leaving to go to Dole, the birth place of Louis Pasteur, the forecast was for rain. We were fortunate to have only a few showers, but nothing of note.
