We caught the ferry to France on Friday with the hope of finding dryer, warmer weather, we had had only a couple of fine days in England.
On arrival in France the weather was already better. Though one thing that took some getting used to again was riding on the RH side of the road, not since America have we traveled on the other side of the road.
For a start I didn't find it too hard, there were other cars and road markings to help, but back country lanes that are only one lane wide, it's a lot harder to automatically go the the RH side when a car, or tractor in our case comes the other way!
While boarding the ferry we saw some very nice, expensive cars. It turned out it was the weekend for the Le Mans 24 hour race, so it was busy.
We didn't go to Le Mans, we went to Arromanches, one of the D-Day landing sites. We had been there before but we had heard that they had installed a new garden to the commemorate the 75th anniversary of the landings. The garden was very nicely done.
We are now looking at heading further south in France than we had intended as the weather is forecast to get worse again.
We plan on being in Germany on the weekend when we will catch up with friends near Rottenburg.
