After a leisurely lie in and giving Jodie a big squeeze goodbye (it was back to the working grind for her) myself and Chelsea set about packing our things and cleaning the flat.
What followed was monotonous work where Chelsea made me sweep and wipe every surface and empty the same bin numerous times, whilst she did her hair and make up. I also bit the bullet and did my own ironing (I was raised in a female dominated household so I know my way around an ironing board), such a grafter!
With the morbid tasks out of the way we handed our keys into a cafe around the corner as instructed and made our way to a beach cafe for some wifi to keep us entertained until our taxi came.
Once at the airport everything went swimmingly and we were browsing the duty free before we knew it and after resisting buying a giant tube of mentos we were in our seats.
The three hour flight was over before we knew it but unfortunately we had opted to sleep in the airport when we arrived rather than forking out for a hotel. The time zone here is two hours on from Australia so we landed at 1am, we were getting picked up at 8am by our camper van hire.
Becoming 'one of those people' that had their hoods up and slept on an airport floor was a surprisingly easy transition. Christchurch airport was surprisingly accommodating for a sleepy traveller, with free wifi, reasonably priced drinks and a slightly cushioned carpet.
I'm itching to get behind the wheel of our camper van this morning!!
