After a long muggy uncomfortable night in the tent (which i'm sure i'll get used to) we woke for a true camp site breakfast of bagals, juice, tea, toast... Well everything actually. We then set off for a full day in Washington DC and returned to the White House where for some reason we could now get up to the gate without being b******ed by plod! so we managed to get some pretty decent photos. We moved on to the Old Post Office which had a small shopping mall situated in the lower section of a tall tower. From the top of the tower we got beautiful views over the city, including all the monuments, making it look rather stunning. Despite Washington's beauty, it is also somewhat of a ghost town. It has no shops, no restaurants, no bars, just s*** loads of cool monuments! Weird place!
After lunching at the Old Post Office, we went down to the World War 2 memorial. Beautiful place, with massive fountains and little waterfalls. The full affect of the midday sun soon got the better of us so we moved on, this time to the Air and Space Museum. Geeky yet lots of fun, Although it didn't teach me anything Brian Cox hadn't already!
We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing in the cool shade in the Sculpture Garden listening to music through my ipod speakers (a very useful Amazon purchase!) and snoozing and chatting. We had a picnic dinner before heading to Baltimore to see a baseball game, Orioles Vs Chicago White Sox. Everyone was gasping for a cold beer at this point so we sat back with a tin and munched on monkey nuts whilst our tour guide went through the rules with us. The white sox won 8-7
