This blog entery is going to be a lot shorter than most as i had already spent quite some time on it, and it got deleted. So here we go again, in a nutshell... We started the day with a trip to Carlesbad carverns which were the most beautiful caves I have ever encountered. We walked three miles in to the caverns taking in the Stunning structures made from staligmites & stalictites. My previous description of the caves was much more interesting but for now just picture Wooky Hole and then think BIG!
Next we hit the small town of Roswell, well I say town but its actually considered a city, its residents commited to promoting our extra tirestrial friends as much as humanly possible. There is alien paraphinalia everywhere. Shop windows, murals on the sides of buildings, even the shades on lamp posts were alien heads! We went to the small museum and read about the government conspiracy of the alleged cover up of alien landings in 1947. Very silly but quite fun. We didn't stay in Roswell long. There are only so many comedy shots of aliens you can get in one morning, so off we went to Santa Fe.
I was surprised at how little of Santa Fe I remembered from our trip in 95' however we did stumble across a little indoor restaurant that looked very familiar. I suppose i wasn't as in to my jewelery then as I am now either. If I had been, I'm sure I would have remembered the shops! We dipped in and out of the shops, all desperate to buy all the lovely things we saw. There were beautiful wooden orniments, pendants, earings, bracelettes and necklaces. There was even a christmas shop where i left with contact details to order the most gorgeous wooden advent callender, rather like a dolls house and when you open a door, it becomes a music box. It has to be seen to understand its true beauty!
When we were shopped out, we sat on the grass and listened to a native American band play awesome music whilst laughing at crazy spiritual types wave their hands in the air looking completely off their faces.
Whistle stop tour of events! It was all very marvellous indeed. Next blog will be far more fun!!
