Yulara to Kings Canyon
Packed up and on our way again we had to say goodbye to the rock I don't think I will ever see anything as beautiful as the rock but after Kings Canyon I feel that it is very organised experience and you do get the one very rehearsed line, but they have to be with 350,000 visitors every year!
We were a bit worried about getting to kings Canyon as we weren't sure if we could get gas there but not a prob steve check at the service station at Yulara so off we went. With a quick slurp of gas a Curtin Springs and a bit of a giggle at the bar off we went. As there was no radio and the one CD (AC/DC) played to death. James played his downloaded Hamish and Andy pod cast, well we laughed all the way as the ranted on about bubble 'o' bill getting you drunk. The boys thought that this was a hoot so they wanted bubble "o" bills after tea, oh dear!We stayed at the Kings Canyon resort again reasonable price but everything else was dreadful, Steve had run out of beer and was hanging for a beer (now hold on to your hats) $24 for half a doz, bargain NOT!!! (Note will by more beer in Alice).
we arrived at about 11.30 so we had lunch and tried to figure out what to do due to the heat we thought that we would do the rim walk in the morning and push off but we had this brouchure that had the creek walk with an aboriginal guide and bush tucker so we thought that we would do this and get the guide as well. It wasn't cheap but it wasn't over the top so it started at 2pm so we scoffed lunch and off we went. Well it was the most wonderful afternoon spent with the guide and us . it was an easy walk and Micka was truly wonderful and if you are up this way do it as he is a credit to his people and it was the best time yet.
Kings Canyon is a Canyon in the true sense of the word as a Gorge is created by a river and a Gorge is created though natural erosion. I mentioned before that the rock was amazing but Kings Canyon is something very different and just as spectacular. DO NOT miss this. Camp was great as well as we had a site that looked out over the ranges and we sat at camp and watched the sun go down it was just as good as Uluru.
Dingoes love this camp and they told us that we must put everything that could be taken away away. They love shoes as well, Steve and the boys tried very hard to imagine dingoes out there with crocs on hummm. And they aren't interested in smelly teenagers in swags though Cal did look worred.
Steve and i went for a walk after sunset and the stars were amazing the night sky can really been seen well from the camp as it wasn't a highly lit as other camps. As we were walking around a dingo just wandered past, i was nearly in Steve's arms, but thankfully for Steve's back the dingo was just off for a wonder. At about three in the morning we were woken by a great howls from the bush wow they are amazing oh and the dingo didn't get my baby he was there in the morning bright eyed and bushy tailed.
