Oh no rain... and there was plenty of it. Everyone comes to Hervey Bay for one reason and that is to see Fraser Island the biggest sand Island in the world and part of the Great Sandy National Park, there was just one problem for us it absoloutley lashed down for three days solid. So it looked like we would have to put this trip on the backburner.
We were in look though, a couple of weeks ago we spent two hours chatting to a really lovley cdouple from Banbury, we had just arrived in Hervey Bay and spotted them walking down the road after Cat had just sent me a message on facebook to get in touch (slightly freaky). They we staying at a bargain of a camspite with its very own bar (Oh dear, this was going to be a problem) well seeing as it was Melbourne cup day, the Aussie grand national. We felt it was only right to join in with the celebrations so me and Tyler decided to nip round to the bottle shop and get the slab of Tooheys on the go. This did end up a very messy night especially as the very accomodating barmaid was giving us free jugs of beer (what was she thinking). This sequence of events repeated itself for two days before we decided to move without Jac even leaving the campsite and without even seeing fraser island, slighlty dissapointing but were not used to rain latley.
The awesome foursome decided to move on and we all headed down to Rainbow Beach which was probably more impressive than 1770, we spent the next couple of days in the national park at inskip point making campfires and discovering sights such as the coloured sand dunes that give the town its name, Lake poona which was a fresh water lake that was really gorgeous and like having a bath, we needed it there was no showers at our campsite and we were starting to smell.
Later that might we spent the evening celebrating Alan and Maries wedding with an amazing meal knocked together by the ladies while the boys team prepared the campfire. Then the lovley Cat produced an amazing suprise in the shape of a wedding cake(ish) A really succsesful night and no tears which was a bonus. The next day we rolled on again to terrorise our next town.
Loads of Love
