After spending about 5 days mincing about tropical Days and pretending to each other that we were 'jetlagged' we finally pulled out our fingers (with the help if Julia) and decided to head up to cape Tribulation for the weekend, seen as the van wasn't ready until Monday, we hired a car and decided to split the cost, about 5 minutes before the taxi arrived to take up to the car rental place we got talking to another guy (Iain) who decided to split the cost even more and hitch a ride with us.We went and stocked up on the Goon (very cheap wine) and BBQ stuff (one of the best things about Oz is the free BBQ's on the beach and on roadsides, you just go along, click the button and it heats up for you, totally free!).We made a stop in Port Douglas for the first night, and decided to top the day of driving off with a beach side BBQ and an early night ready for another day of exploring.
On the way up to Cape Trib we stopped at a 'Gorge' this is just a swimming hole, it was suggested to us by Gabe the guy who owned the hostel, he told us how freezing it was but to get in and its ok, It was so cold, I stayed on the beach and minded all the clothes, and took the pictures for everyone while they all freezed their socks off! We also decided to do a croc cruise and make sue the first time we saw one of these little devils it was in the safety of a boat!
CapeTrip is a lovely spot, on one side you have TropicalRain Forest and the other you have reef filled beaches, all very lovely to look at.We decided to spend our Sunday doing the 6 hour trek up Mount Sorrow (wondered why they called it that…now I know)It was a pretty hard walk, it was only about 3km up but it was steep all the way, (we had bought walking shoes in Bali so it was a tad easier for us and Aaron managed to stay on both feet this time!)so we took some sandwiches and chocolate up their to will us on.The really good thing about Julia is that she has long legs so she set a good pace and also she eats loads of fruit so we had fruit stops along the way!
It was a pretty lovely weekend, we took some great pictures as well!
