After dragging ourselves away from the home comforts of Tropical Days and saying a teary goodbye to Gabe and Micelle not to mention the cleaners and other guests. Our first stop was the local Coles and shopping for our daily feeds! Our van has a little fridge which is a lifesaver as the 'eskys' need filling with ice everyday and sometimes drench everything you have!We decided to head in land a little and start off in the lush green hills of the Atherton Tablelands, full of nice cheap National Parks, lovely wildlife and free BBQ'S.Our first destination was the wee village of Yungaburra, a very cutesy little sleepy town, one of the types everyone knows each others business and has a community hall! We found a lovely spot just on LakeEacham to camp and stop there for a couple of days.We went to see these fig trees which are mega, it's a tree that germinates and drops its seed, wherever it drops on the branch another tree starts to grow, you can see how strange they look in the pictures, their massive as well!We did a walk around LakeBarrine and got caught in a tropical rainstorm, not the best of places to find yourself while there's lightning, that was quite scary actually! We also stopped in Milla milla, again another sleepy town a lot smaller than Yungaburra. We went to a viewpoint and met some locals who gave us a couple of places to visit, its so great that al Ozzies know their area inside out as you would never imaging that these places exists otherwise! He told us about a crater which we went down to!On the way out of the Tablelands we decided to stop by and have a free cheese taster, how rude would it have been not to order to large slabs of cheese cake to go with it eh! Well we do have to treat ourselves once in a while!
