15/7/15 - our penultimate day! Today started auspiciously as we had a very early flight from Udaipur which landed in Mumbai at about 9:30am....so about 3.5 hours to kill before our guide and sightseeing driver turns up. The plan to stay in our Ramee Guest House hotel room was partially scuppered by the fact that 'no twin room was available' till 12:30pm and as a result of some more crap customer service by the receptionist. This is a beautiful part of India and the world! The day started with a 6 hour car journey which was interesting for various reasons. Half of it was simply motorway and main roads but passing village after village - sometimes very busy and sometimes very poor, indeed. 11/7/15 - we are currently on our 6 hour Jaipur to Jodhpur road trip of 330km. So far it's been one very long motorway which is mostly used by road freight and judging by the advertising on the side of these lorries, the car manufacturer, 'Maruti Suzuki' uses 3 in 5 vehicles. Great day in Jaipur! Observatory , City Palace and the Palace of the Winds all great places with brilliant photo opportunities. Bring on Jodhpur! (MJR) This city is BUSY! The roads are probably more crowded with bikes and cars (and cows) than New Delhi! There's lots of amazing heritage here and the visibility of the British influence very obvious. 8/7/15 Today we drove an hour to the deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri' (just outside New Delhi and 250km to our next destination of Samode. Interesting place with lots of history about attempts to bring together Hindus, Muslims and Christians in 1610 AD. Surprisingly, the idea didn't work and was abandoned 14 years after the city was built. It's now just a tourist attraction.
