New Delhi is a lot cleaner than 1995 when I first visited as diesel is banned and all Tuk-Tuks are now petrol or electric. There's been quite a lot of progress with infrastructure since 2011 when I visited with Mike, my brother. Roads are so much better and there is now a fast growing metro (tube) system that will put much of our 1970's looking underground trains to shame!
Weather has not been great as it's been grey and very humid with temperatures between 35-40 degrees C. Touring around the city was quite low key with a bit of shopping (I flexed my budget on a hand made rug and a hand made marble 'lazy Susan' type thing...with doubles up into a small table-cum-light stand...versatile, eh?
Stayed at the 'Park Plaza Hotel'...very posh indeed! Dinesh and Vanessa Kuper wouldn't have looked out of place. Shames it was so bloody expensive... 450 Rupees (£4.50) for a 330ml bottle of Kingfisher!

Well, 'this is the day!' (one of many good quotes from 'The Best Most Exotic Marigold Hotel') we visited the 'Agra Fort' (Agra's exact same version of the 'Red Fort' in Delhi) and the one and only 'Taj Mahal'. The first is amazing but the latter just blows you away. I've now seen it three times and it still raises the hairs on the back of my neck....truly spectacular!
Stayed at the Wyndham Grange Hotel which looked the biz but was, basically, crap! Boiler broke! Wifi broke! Lights iffy and only BBC World News for non-UK viewers on TV. on the up side, our driver, a Sikh called Mr Guruchandran, bought us a case (24 cans) of 330ml Kingfisher @ 100 Rupees each!! Result!
