Arrived at Camping Hortensius after a somewhat adventurous drive. My fault really as I'd told the Satnav to ignore toll roads, thinking we would be taking scenic back roads and enjoying the relative peace and quiet, oh contraire! We were taken via Lille with six lane intersections, the driving was like being at the dodgems, cars were coming from all directions and the satnav kept cutting out arggh (so much for the software update before leaving).

It makes me wonder why WE have to carry spare bulbs when every other vehicle has at least one light out. Cutting a long story short Lesley had a baptism of fire on map reading duty, not a good start as she couldn't find Calais and we'd only just landed there. After a couple of hours we were away from the onslaught and only a few miles from our campsite. We stopped at a Carrefour and stocked up on essentials, thats Champaign and red wine to you who don't know us that well. Now settled and having dinner and sharing a bottle of Mumm... lovely.
