Christchurch

Travelled here from Queenstown which was a long journey on the bus. Slept most of the way there. On arrival we checked into the worst hostel so far. Christchurch had a big earthquake in September last year and everything was still a bit of a mess. Our hostel had scaffolding all around it and half the rooms were still closed to be re-built!

We went to the Christchurch museum which was good. Cycled on a Penny Farthing :) We went to a fudge shop to get free fudge tasters, and then had a few drinks in the evening. Christchurch didnt have too much to do, it was a lot like a small English city.

We were supposed to stay here 3 nights, but we shortened it to two because it was quiet, We left Christchurch and went to Kaikoura.

3 days after we left Christchurch there was another huge Earthquake, lucky we left early as one of the hostels collapsed (suprisingly not the one we were in!) and a few of our friends are stuck there in tents on fields with no baggage or passports!!!

Kaikoura

One night stop here. On the way we stopped off to go and see the Seals! They were fat and smelly. We could have done Dolphin and Whale swimming but that was too expensive so instead we all went to the pub and played cards while watching the Rugby. Catch up on sleep here!

Next day we got the ferry across to the North Island. Stayed in Wellington for one night before heading back to Taupo. We've already been here...so we just skipped through :)
