Arrived in Krabi town on the 12th February. Heard the diving was ok so went to check out prices and we needed to come here to get to Cambodia so seemed logical.
There isn't much in Krabi town so we got a taxi to the beach (Ao Nang) which is lovely. Gorgeous hotels and a nice shopping street with restuarants along the beach. Had 2 nice days there, watched the sunsets and got some great cocnut massages and treated our feet to a pedicure (all for 14 pounds).
Then we booked our bus to cambodia through the Hotel, which was going to be 30hrs but the first leg was a night bus so the next day we went to see Wat kaew. There are 1,200 steps to the top of the mountain where the Buddha is, so we were pretty tired, and also all the Thai people wanted to have their picture taken with us and found it hilarious (were not sure why but i think it was look at the sweaty British girls!!)
The journey from Krabi to cambodia was an absolute nightmare! I dont think our hotel owner had booked it properly as the mini bus that came to take us to the bus station turned up full and had to come back for us. then there wernt enough seats on the bus so we had to sit with the driver until surrantani where we swapped buses. Then when we had swapped buses and sat down we got hauled off the bus (just me and Gemma) and told we didnt have the right ticket and they were going to drop us off an hour up the road to a different bus, and until then we had to sit downstairs, so we shared a tiny sofa with these 3 huge french guys who took up all the space for the whole 15hrs
When we got to bangkok we got on another bus, and set off for the border. the air con broke half way through so it was roasting and by the time we got to the border we were just fed up with the whole thing so organised a taxi with another couple to take us to siem reap. The guy who also sorted the taxi out for us told us to exchange our dollars for Reil (local currency) as it would be better for us. Once we got into cambodia we stopped to get drinks and i bought a bottle of water and some pringles. It ended up being five pounds as we were unsure of the currency and extremely tired, so 1st mistake made!!
