Arrived in Krabi town on the 12th February. Heard the diving was ok so went to check out prices and we needed to come here to get to Cambodia so seemed logical. There isn't much in Krabi town so we got a taxi to the beach (Ao Nang) which is lovely. Gorgeous hotels and a nice shopping street with restuarants along the beach. Landed in Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City at about 6:30 at night after a nice airconditioned flight!! I had read in my lonely planet that the taxi drivers really try to rip you off and they will tell you a hotel has closed down so they can take you somewhere where they get comission. So when we got outside sure enough they tried to charge us $25 for a taxi ride to a hotel i had picked from the book, and also that the hotel had closed down! We got them down to $15 dollar...

Arrived in Phi Phi in the morning and found accomodation straight away which was a relief. It is so much nicer than Phuket you wouldn't believe. Its a lot more rural than ko tao, almost like a jungle, with loads of huge cliffs and forests going up the mountain. If there hadnt been these cliffs im sure the tsunami would have been a hundered times worse! Its hard to know if they have developed it fully again since the disaster but, there is a lot of stagnant water ...
