Got back to our hotel in Hanoi around 8:00am and then had to waste three hours until our room was ready!
Went to Joma cafe for chocolate croissant, tea and and bagel! Most expensive breakfast ever but tasted amazing!
Went shopping for the morning walked up to the market and both bought all star trainers! Can't believe I actually found a size 10.5 in Asia, that's alien to them here!
Bought two tops, pair of shorts, completely random that yesterday we trekking through a remote valley with local village people and then today were wining, dining, and shopping in the capital city!! Then went back to the hotel for 11:00!
Ran into Celine and decided to all go to the cinema to see Ice Age 4!! It was so funny! We were late though someone said it would take 15 minutes but there's no way it could be walked in that took us at least thirty minutes and for once we weren't even dawdling! I've been looking forward to this film release for over a year now, and show my Nephew new trailers for it all the time so felt bad that I couldn't take him to see it, I miss him so much, it wasn't the same without him! His Grandma took him to watch it in Wales though and he was a little devil taking his 3D glasses off all the time! Naughty Aiden, miss you!!!
Went shopping afterwards for supplies we need like toiletries, anti-persperrant here is so expensive!! I think the cheapest one was £3? Needs must though!
Got back home and got ready to go out that night. We met Lee at the lake in a taxi which drove us to the restaurant, we said we would treat Lee and Toni to a meal for all of the showing us around they've done so this is where they chose! It was packed, clearly popular and the food tasted amazing!
We ate:
1) Bun Cha - sticky noodles with barbecue pork marinated in spicy soup with basil leaves! This was amazingggg!
2) canh cua - a spaghetti with tomato sauce looking thing! (vegetarian)
3) Banh bot loc - fish in a birth sactule! Or so it seemed! Was actually Shrimp in glutinous tapioca flour dumpling, thats usually wrapped in banana leaf!
It was odd! It reminded me of the pudding I had in Dins uncle's restaurant in Cambodia I thought was just jelly wrapped in banana leaf that you dip in sugar, this was a similar thing!
4) Ha cao Tom cua - Crab and Prawn mushed together in a soft fluffy dumpling! Dipped in sweet and sour sauce... Yum yum!
5) Nom du du lac - Green papaya salad, self explanatory but a lot tastier than it sounds, I'm no herbivore but I enjoyed this a lot!
6) Banh Tom Hanoi - Shrimp in a crispy fried pancake, a little like an Asain Samosa?
All of the food was amazing! And I could get used to dining out here every night, trying different foods! I'm getting so much more adventurous, my taste buds don't know what's hit them!
After dinner they took us to a lounge bar south of the lake which is also packed out, on a Wednesday! The roof terrace is beaut but it was slightly raining and the sheltered seats were gone so we sat inside the quirky bar drinking white wine (no rosé on the menu, this simply will not do!) then Amaretto + Brandy coffee! Got very smokey inside though my eyes stung, Annie was almost passed out on the floor, clutching her inhaler in one hand!
We stayed out until one and by then I was knackered so we left and got home just gone half past, straight to sleep!
