We've been back home a week now, back to the daily grind of work, what most people refer to as "normal" life. Well I guess that depends on prospectives and what you want out of life. It was most certainly interesting touring in our own "backyard", a lot easier than overseas, we understand the monetary system, the customs, the language, but it is no less adventurous and you still get to meet interesting people and you get to see interesting landscapes. People had suggested touring in Australia would be expensive, well, it wasn't as cheap as some places, but then it wasn't as dear as others, if you know what you are doing you can still travel well for a reasonable price. Crossing the Nullarbor was expensive, fuel was 171.9 cents a litre, dinner cost us $55 for something very basic and a backpacker room cost us $75, but apart from the fuel, we chose to have some luxury and wanted to get out of the wind! This crossing was my 25th and Julie's 24th and apart from the wind, probably one of our most pleasant, average temp was 25°, couldn't complain about that.
From Norseman we headed to Lake Grace via Hyden, we were calling in on our daughter in Lake Grace, we had a lovely time there, even if we had a storm and rain. From Lake Grace we stopped at Quindanning to have lunch with our Ulysses friends who had come out to greet us, it was a great way to finish off our adventure.
For the record we pulled into our driveway 120 Kilometres short of 130,000! The bike was now back where it started and while this adventure may be over we will be trying very hard to make sure it won't be our last.
To all the people we met on our travels and especially to all those that helped us, we are eternally greatfull for your friendship and hospitality and hope that one day our paths may cross again and that we may be able to return your friendship and hospitality.
