After we left Sweden and went back into Norway we stopped at a town called Røros, a town famous for its 333 year old copper smelter that closed in 1977. It was a great old town with lots of old buildings and history. From there we went the long way to meet with Michael Prosser at Sjoa Rafting. We went via route 63 and Trollistigen, or Trolls Road, it was amazing, the valley leading up to it was that deep with mountains so high that the GPS kept loosing signal. We spent a couple of days at Sjoa Rafting camp with Michael, it is a great place with lots of activities, not just rafting. We then headed to Oslo, which we found quite disappointing, it had no real atmosphere or architecture to speak of. We did visit a Viking museum that had an amazing display of Viking boats, we also visited the Kon-Tiki museum that was very interesting and the Fram museum had the boat Fram in it, an old wooden boat over 100 years old that was used for Polar explorations back from 1893.
All in all there aren't enough adjectives to describe the Norwegian scenery, but the cost of the place makes it hard to afford. Finally on our way to Oslo we came across a traffic jam caused by a 20 year old motorbike rider with a 15 year old female pillion that had ridden above his skill level and the girl had to be air lifted out, hopefully she will be OK, and then we found out that we were staying in the caravan park opposite where the gunman had shot all those children in July and the day we left they were having a memorial, we did talk about staying, but we didn't think we could handle all that grief. Just before Sweden we clocked up twenty thousand kilometres, and what a ride it has been, we have ridden through Steppes, mud, sand, dust, rocks, rivers, snow, past mountains with snow on them, fjords, glaciers, huge lakes and rivers, it has been truly amazing.
