After trekking back across Wyoming we headed back up through Yellowstone NP into Montana. We planned on cutting up the west side of Montana, through Bozeman and up to Glacier National Park. We had met a young chap in Halifax last year, he lived in Bozeman and said we should call in when we were over that way. As it turned out we missed him by a day, but his girlfriend was more than happy to put us up. The run up to Bozeman was through some very nice countryside indeed and Bozeman was one of the nicest little cities we had seen in America, lots of trees, grass and architecture. We spent a day there catching up on a few things, also we had a thunderstorm come through, so we weren't too keen to get on the road. When we left Bozeman we planned on using the back roads and stopping short of Glacier NP. As it turned out, on the way we met a couple of blokes on bikes that said the road through Glacier was closed until the 20th of June. When we had wi-fi we checked this, and sure enough, the website said they were plowing up to 20 feet of snow and didn't expect to have it open any earlier. So we made the decision to try to come back down this way when we returned from Alaska, so for now we went past these snow capped mountains and headed into BC Canada. While we were in Montana Julie had her Birthday, so we had lunch in a bakery in Sparwood BC, but we were in Montana in the morning, which is significant because; when we left in 2011 Julie had her Birthday in MOngolia, in 2012 she was in MOntenegro, in 2013 it was Wales and this year it was MOntana, pretty cool really.

Mum/Marion Fascinating - especially all that snow - oh boy. And Julie managing to have another Birthday in yet another Special place.
Janet McIntyre Hah hah! That is cute about Julie's MO birthdays. She is a MOther too. When we were in Chepstow, Wales (near the Severn crossing), we were on the border with MOnmothshire. I'm wondering now if Monmothshire is a county in Wales, rather than England.
