Mich Goes Walk About
Have spent the last few days on the Small Perhentian Island on the Malaysian East Coast. Shared a beach hut with two wild amercian guys, Todd and Dave. We hired a boat to take us on a snorkelling trip one day (as we got up too late to take the organised trip) for two hours. The water was so clear and myself and Dave saw a massive fish, but we have no idea what it was. The boat then dropped us at the Fishermans village, where we had our daily portion of rice and the best chocolate cake i've had in months! After lunch we started our trek back to Coral Bay, which started as a mini jungle trek and then we had to walk along the shore line, scrambling over the rocks. We got quite far, but then we were presented with a massive wall of rock. We couldn't go round in the water as we all had our bags and the tide was rising. At this point i notice my foot was bleeding, nothing mayor though. Tood climbed the big rock to see if the path over it was passable, it was not. But luckily he managed to hail a passing boat that then took us back to Coral Bay. I was so impressed by the visability after snorkelling that i decide to take a dive the next day, and Todd joins me. The visability wasn't as great as i expected, but we saw lots including Blue spotted sting rays, puffer fish, angel fish and bamboo shark.
That evening we were invited by the guest house to have dinner so a film crew could film us. Thats right, I'm going to be famous. Its a commerical to be aired in June, advertising the resort, i think. It will be on cable, but don't worry if you miss it they have promised to send me a copy! I got a free meal out of it though...was pretty good at that!
Have now left the Perhentian Islands and am attempting to make my way to Taman Negaru.
