MeznG. In the air, on the road, river or sea again
It's all about what Glenn and Milton did today. They got up at 4am were in a taxi at 4.30am and straight to Vegas airport By 5am for a 6am flight to Phoenix. But that's their story so will leave it to them. Everything was going to plan until the security check in. They asked for ID so all good, produced Australian Drivers License but this is not acceptable, they are requesting passports which flours e are back in the RV. Managed to talk our way through and off to Phoenix. We picked up the car and drove through absolute desert, cactus and dirt. We found a great cafe for brekkie called Mimi's and then on to Tucson. 30 miles south of Tucson is the Titan Missile Site. Its the only missile left and as been turned into a museum. There was 58 missiles in 3 states all serviceable . During the Cold War from approximately 1963 and for 29 years, they were all capable of launch in 1 minute and would detonate in Russia in 30 minutes if needed. Thank God no-one had to push the button. Next it's on to Pima Air Museum, by this time it's lunch time and its 110 degrees F. Bloody Hot! There is a great display of all types of aircraft civil and military. Some are indoors and in immaculate condition and some outside not so good. My favourite SR71 Blackbird (high altitude spy plane in the 60's and 70's). Then onto the Boneyard (Davis Monthan airbase) where 4000 aircraft are stored wrapped in plastic. This area is so dry so there is no corrosion providing ideal storage conditions. Can't really describe these rows of aircraft. Unreal. Time was getting on so back to Tucson airport. Once again the same issue with the security, but all good and uneventful flight back to Vegas. 16 hour day but well worth it. Quiet drink, swim and dinner in the great outdoors. Perfect end to a perfect day Goodnight Harvey xx Liz and I are up at 7 thanks to the gardeners mowing and trimming trees around the pool. We need to do laundry this morning so getting up early will get that done. While the washing is happening we go for a walk, come back get the drying happening and hang the delicate items out on the line we have hoisted between the tree and Harvey. There is a bit of a breeze so nothing will take long to dry. We will get it in after the shower and before we leave. Liz was back from the shower first and she witnessed the head pop off the sprinkler next Harvey and shoot a fountain of water and red dirt all over our clean washing. Lucky we didn't have the door open or we would have red mud and water inside. Not Happy!!!! Back to the laundry to rewash. This time we will hang it inside! It's time to hit the shops. We score the same taxi driver as we had on Sunday and he remembered us too. We get dropped at Macy's and this is the start of an epic 7 and a half hours of shopping ending just after 6pm at the North Las Vegas Outlet Shops. We are in the pool when the boys arrive home....but only just. Goodnight Harvey xx
