MeznG. In the air, on the road, river or sea again
Today we are heading to the strip. Walk, swim and breakfast, in the cab and away we go. First stop the Bellagio for a trip down memory lane for Liz and Milton because that's where they stayed in 2010. With the change in the season the hotels conservatory is decorated in an autumn theme and it is spectacular . There was a water wheel and even a talking tree . Pure magic. We wander through the shops and out into the strip and into Caesars Palace. As the name would suggest this one has a Roman theme with huge statues and fountains. The Forum shops appear to be outside as up above is a blue sky with white fluffy clouds and its like we walking along a street in Rome with the pavement cafes and restaurants. While in this protected air-conditioned environment we have no idea of the heat building up outside. We can't come to grips with the number of people doing what we are doing. Everywhere we go in Vegas there is a lot of people. There is an astounding number of people playing the poker machines and the tables and its the middle of the day. We come out of Caesars Palace into the heat of the day to cross over the boulevard to go to the Venetian. Just crossing the road is a mammoth task. There are escalators, over passes and lifts to get the pedestrians safely from one side to the other. The big casinos and hotels all have their own gimmick and features to get you in their doors. The Venetian is based on the city of Venice with an outdoor and indoor canal complete with gondolas. Unfortunately there is maintenance being done indoors so the anal is dry. The gondolas are still taking people on the outside canal however. The Venetian is where Glenn and I stayed ack in 2008 but we cut our trip short because of the Global Financial Crisis. It is a beautiful place even without the water in the canal. We are going to have lunch at Jimmy Buffets Margarita Bar. This is a hip hop happen'n place. Yummo frozen margaritas are just what the doctor ordered to cool us down. The place is packed but the meals are churned out pretty quick. Las Vegas is not a city, I don't much care for the big cities, Las Vegas is a huge amusement park, and I LOVE amusement parks! Anything goes here, every couple of feet there is a casino, poker machines, a bar, and a souvenir shop. People are walking around enjoying their beers and frozen cocktails in various types of beverage containers. We head back to the Bellagio firstly to get Liz her crepe from the patisserie with the tallest chocolate fountain in the world and then to get a cab back home so we can have a swim and freshen up before we come back in to go to the Mirage to see the Cirque de Solei performance Love. The pool is refreshing, its lovely to come back to. Time for a little relax and then shower and time to tizzy ourselves up to go out on the town. The cab takes us straight to the Mirage and once we have collected our tickets we can get our beverages. It's like going to the movies because we can have popcorn. Glenn and I go the big guns and get 24oz beer and 24oz frozen Margarita and Liz goes the 12 oz frozen Piña Colada and Milton the 12 oz beer. To complement this we have a large popcorn to share. We have fabulous seats and it is an awesome show.the music is original Beatles music, the performers and angers are amazing. They seem weightless as they are suspended in the air on ropes, no safety harnesses. We all loved it. We went to the 7pm session and their was another one at 9.30 so that crowd was waiting when we came out. Our timing is perfect because as we are walking back along the boulevard looking at all the pretty lights, the 10pm dancing Bellagio Fountain starts. The water is choreographed to music and its is amazing. Seeing as we are at the Bellagio we take one last look at the Halloween Display before jumping in a cab to go home for a cuppa and some toast before bed. The boys have an early start tomorrow. Up at 4am to fly to Phoenix. More on that tomorrow. Goodnight Harvey xx
