The main reason i started this trip was when Jenna was visiting in 2012 and talking about going back to LA for Coachella that year it got me thinking... Then after Coachella 2012 Jenna called me and said you need to come next year, im buying you a ticket pay me back later and make it happen!!!!!!
So thank you Jenna for giving me a push in the right direction and starting me on this journey xx
COACHELLA was unreal and like nothing i could have ever expected.
Firstly we left Orange County at about 3pm and made the scenic route to Coachella, we went through mountians and windy roads (i felt a little carsick from) went through some pretty small towns that just look like they were off a Hollywood movie set.
After a bit of a scenic drive to Coachella we stopped to get some Gas, had a joint brilliant idea of getting a slurpy and filling it with Vodka. Oh s*** but it was 89cents why the hell not! (we have the Vodka in the car…) Then had a great idea to get more booze…. not that we needed anymore! Got to the cash register and realised that i didn't have any ID on me. She refused to serve me and i wasn't able to touch the grog or even the bag of ice we just purchased…. totally forgot that the legal drinking age is 21 here so I'm a looking young still = WINNING!!! But then it sank in that i might not be able to actually drink at the festival int he beer tents without it………. that was not a good feeling!!!!
We drove on into Coachella and sat in a line/parkinglot for 3.5 hours to get into the camp grounds. I have never had to pee so badly before IN MY LIFE!!!!!! We set our tent up in the dark - which might i add i am so proud of us Jenna, who needs a man right?
In Coachella mode we went exploring through tent city, came across heaps of Aussies and went along to the Silent disco. Was so much fun dancing up a storm there till 3:30 am. Jenna doesn't remember much of the walk home but i did come up with a few ideas to improve Coachella one of them being a KEBAB stall!!!!! It was so freezing that night i seriously thought i was going to die of frost bite!
Coachella day 1 = Jenna is Hung Over!!! Messika being the "seasoned Alcho" was all good in the hood. But she soldered on and into Coachella we went!
It was HUGE and i was just walking around for the first hour with my mouth wide open like OMG look at that, how cool is that, there are so many people etc.
Highlights of the day were Lord Huron, Of Monsters and Men, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Band of Horses, Jurassic 5 and Tegan and Sarah. Oh and the drinking Jenga we played in the red bull tent! Needless to say by 1am we were so tired and sore (getting old ladies) we just crashed out!
Coachella day 2 - Happy 4-20 day people! There was wackie tobaci everywhere!!!!
Highlights of the day were the Colourist, Danny Brown, Portugal, the man, THE POSTAL SERVICE (i was reliving my late teens you couldn't take the smile off my face finally seeing them live!!!!) Moby was unreal too. Oh and Jenna's friend who might i add knows the guy that runs Coachella and has an AAA pass with a trailer, showers, running water, toilets that flush, a pool and slushy machines (which i have teed us up for tickets in 2015 for) kept bringing us frozen daiquiri all day llong - kept me happy in the heat thats for sure! We didn't make the silent disco though as us "old ladies" had sore backs from dancing up a dust storm all day long…
Coachella Day 3 - festival coming to an end :( caught up with some guys from Perth and had a few drinks before entering into Coachella. We finally made it on the big ferris wheel YAY and caught up with my friends from San Fran too. Highlights - The Lumineers, Tamp Impala, Vampire Weekend, La Roux and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. It was a beaut day but a long drive back to OC. Pore Jenna had to get up at 6am and go to work while i slept in and sat by the pool recovering.
Coachella was unreal and i highly recommend it! I am going back for sure in 2015 so if anyone else is keen let me know :)
Well thats all for now folks, take care and hope all is fine and dandy back home.
