Blimey, it's been 3months since i last updated this, no wonder people were nagging me!! it's not that i'd forgotten but i've mainly been working away (work in the loosest sense!) and haven't travelled anywhere really but i'll give a wee update on coogee life!
soooo...it's now officially winter, which means RAIN...mega gross, but to be fair in may, their version of november, it still hit 29degrees so i can't really complain too much/at all! in fact, their winter kinda reminds me of our summer!! but we did have twisters, tornadoes and flash flooding last week, which was very crazy.
anywho, kat and i moved into a new apartment a couple months ago with richie (english) and dave (aussie), which has been a lot of fun and without the smelliness/ant attacks of the old place! and with it being in central coogee meant that we didn't have to walk up the mountain to get home after going to the shops etc! we're moving out on friday though because we were only staying in the room until langer came back from his travels around south america (which i'm definitely travelling around when i get the chance!), but we'll be moving to our own flat, which will be veeery nice. we'll only be there for a month, and then...wait for it...i'm actually going to be leaving sydney!! yes folks, the moment that people thought would never come is actually happening, although until i'm on the plane i don't think anyone will believe it to be true! but i'll be travelling half way up the coast to Mackay before heading to one of the smaller towns to find some farm work so that i can get my second year visa. i'm planning on being there for 3months or so, and hopefully i'll be able to save a fair bit of money while i'm there coz i'll be in the middle of nowhere and without the temptations of sydney! the only thing that is slightly concerning is that there'll be heaps of snakes and spiders there, but it'll be super hot up there so i'm sure i'll survive!
so, onto coogee events, a lot of people have started moving on/going back home, which is rubbish but obviously part of travelling so you do get used to it, but sydney is very quiet atm with it being winter, and obviously it's not really beach weather anymore (although there was a girl sunbathing yday through the wind-she was DEFINITELY english) so there isn't a lot we can do without spending money! kat and i went to rocks a few weeks ago, the oldest part of sydney, and that was a nice touristy day, we found out about how sydney was made by the english when thay arrived and generally were big geeks and it was faaantastic! more recently we went on a tour to the hunter valley, where a lot of the australian wine is produced, a trip that we'd won for being top sellers for ozparty (wooop!) despite waking up at stupid o'clock, aka 5.30am, we arrived at the ozexperience office for 7am to begin our adventure. the hunter valley is about 2hours outside sydney, and it was sooo nice to get out of the city for a day. we were to a national park to start with, for a nice little stroll around the lake, saw a funnel web spider-one of the most poisonous spiders in the world, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_funnel-web_spider noooice, before heading back to the bus to go to the first winery! overall we went to 3 wineries, tried approx 30different types of wine and generally had a lot of fun! to say we were a little tipsy by the end of the day would be putting it mildly, but it was a lot of fun. it was sooo nice to actually drink some nice wine, opposed to the nasty, nasty goon that we're all used to drinking!
so in my last few weeks in coogee i'm planning on doing a few things that i haven't done yet, like go to the imax (hopefully to see toy story 3), go to a couple museums to try and generally be slightly cultural/do things other than go to beach/drink/bbqs! well, the washing needs hanging up sooo i'll try and update this before i start my travels again, so lots of love back to england!
