Hey!
We got to the cameron highlands yesterday after getting a coach from KL which took 6 hours. The weather is much cooler here, its very nice. We didnt do much yesterday, just chilled at the hostel playing scrabble and watching movies, the lounge area is very nice! We decided to hand wash some of our clothes yesterday also, my mum would be proud! ..except a couple of hours after we put them up to dry it started raining! It was only for like 10 minutes so we just left them out...bad idea! Throughout the night it rained SOOO Heavily, woke me up from my lovely sleep!! It was really scary because it kept getting louder by the minute, but it only lasted 5minutes!
We were going to go on one of the tours today into the mossy forest which also takes you to the tea plantations, butterfly farms and to the highest point on the mountains which was costing 40 RM which is about 7 pounds...we decided to save money and do it ourselves and then hire bikes and go biking in the forest! So we got a bus to the honey bee farm (1.80 RM) and checked that out and then went to the famous cameron highlands 'BOH' tea plantation centre which was nearby!
The board at the entrance of the tea plantations said '2km' walk?for the panaramic view of the plantations and the factory! So we began the walk...it was actually very refreshing with amazing scenary and great views on the way, but I seriously think they got the measurments wrong...it felt like way more than 2km!! A police car that was heading up even stopped us at one point and said 'very long way' and said to get some transport on the way down!
So we finally got there, went to the factory, was really interesting to find out how they make tea and then we went to the cafe and had some of the 'BOH' tea...the best in malaysia! It was in fact realllly nice!! After this we found out that we weren't the only crazy ones as we saw some other people from our hostel had also did the same thing as us and walked the whole way up instead of getting a taxi!! We thought we'd a hitch a ride back to the main road after we'd finished, we met a taxi driver that said 10 RM, which was a total rip off (even though that is only like 90p or something) so we thought we'd start the walk and hitch a ride with whoever was passing!!? The walk back was Looooonggg as it was infact UPHILL we were walking now, felt like forever, but it weren't so bad in the end as we had a good?breeze our way!
After this we saw the butterfly farm and got a bus back to our hostel when it again started raining a little bit so our clothes on the line after probably being dry had now started the get wet again, but when we got back they weren't that bad so it was cool!
Gonna go into town now to get dinner! I probably won't be writing another blog for a few days maybe a week now because were heading to 'Taman Negara' the oldest rainforest in the world tommorow and then onto the perhentian islands, so im assuming there won't be any internet in the jungle or on the deserted island!!
