We arrived in Ninh Binh 12/04 - 3 hours from Hanoi.

A welcome relief from the bustling city of Hanoi. You can walk down the streets without being hasseled. On the first day we stayed local and visited the very western style cathedral. We did get hasseled by children who kept holding out their hands asking for money. The evening consisted of being bitten by mosquitos...thankfully not a malaria area.

We planned to visit some local caves and lagoons the next day but awoke to monsoon type rain....we were hostel bound! We were planning on getting the night bus to Hue that evening so had to check out and sit in the downsairs area for about 10 hours. Luckily it cleared up a bit to wander the local shops. Even though we didnt get to do much it was still nice to experience the local area...even the local speciality...Goat! Of course Met enjoyed it thoroughly.
