Time to say goodbye to Kakadu. We headed on towards Katherine and stopped in for a quick swim at Edith Falls. Lunch stop in Katherine and then onto Mataranka thermal springs for another quick dip. The water here was very clear and warm, but also quite "thick". On the way to Daly Waters we stopped in at the Pink Panther Pub, before arriving at the iconic Daly Waters Pub to stay for the night.

Our first stop today was Maguk falls. Aanother rough ride and a bit of a walk to one of the most beautiful swimming holes on the trip so far. The water was clear and refreshing. After a nice swim we headed on, down yet another long dirt road to Gunlom Falls. We endured the hardest walk to date 2km almost straight up to the top of the falls. Today we travelled into Jim Jim Falls. It was a 50km drive down another fairly ordinary dirt road. Next came the tough 2km walk to the falls over very large rocks. It was worth the effort. The walls of the gorge were amazingly high. There was only a small trickle of water coming over, but it is easy to imagine what it would be like in full flow. We travelled around Kakadu and found lots of interesting and beautiful places to visit. We looked at the amazing rock art at Ubirr, as well as the Ubirr lookout where we had a fantastic 360 degree view over Kakadu and into Arhnem Land. We could see over the flood plains as well as into the rocky escarpment areas. Today we travelled into Kakadu. We stopped off for a beer at the Bark Hut Inn on the way. We stopped in at the Bowali Visitor Centre and looked through the display about Kakadu National Park. We set up at Cooinda Caravan Park and went for a swim in the most beautiful pool so far (complete with its own waterfall).
