Audubon, IA
Today is our last day here in my home town of Audubon, IA. The last 3 weeks have flown by so quickly, that our time seems short. During this time, we have been able to catch up with family and friends, visit many old and new places, and experience new things. This last week we made some homemade vanilla icecream in an old churn, made caramel apples, went bike riding along an old railway track, and just spent time visiting.
The kids went swimming, and visited Albert the Bull. Albert is a 3 story statue of a bull commemorating the cattle industry here in the 50'& 60's. (My grandfather's manufacturing company built it, in which my dad worked and helped build Albert.)
Tonight we have been invited to visit our old house where I grew up. My parents fixed this old house up to its present state, and we all have such wonderful memories there. It should be good fun to go visit it, and show my kids where I grew up.
Even though our time here seems to have been short, we have had some great times re-connecting with lots of family and friends. We sure have cherished this time, and are grateful for the opportunity to have been here.
Tomorrow we are heading East to visit more sights and learn more about American history.
